About

Hi! I’m Ashley, and welcome to Fit Food Lover. This blog began as a school project last October, and I fell in love with it. Since then, it has changed and grown tremendously. Having  a passion for food and a love/hate relationship with exercise (mostly love), my focus was solely on eating right and being in shape. However, I noticed a growing fixation on those things in myself that neither made me happy nor healthy. So I’ve changed the direction of Fit Food Lover into more of a life blog than one focused completely on food and fitness. Besides, who wants to just read about my meals and my workouts every day? I know I wouldn’t.

Phew! Now that that’s out of the way, here’s a little bit about me:

I am a twenty-something, recently-graduated-from-college, world-traveling newlywed who has just married the love of my life and moved from Florida to South Africa.
My extreme passion for cooking and food permeates every aspect of my life. I eat, sleep, and breathe food! Healthy food, that is.

My journey to health began over 3 years ago, when I found out I was gluten-intolerant. Since then, I have become more and more informed about health and what it means to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. It’s a growing and ever-evolving process. No, I am not a health freak, and I do love the occasional sweet splurge. For me, it is important to take care of your body, but also enjoy your life to the fullest. The main thing is to always try to make the healthiest choices possible, exercise when you can, and experience as much as you can. A happy life is a full life.

I’ll leave you with this:

“Life is so brief that we should not glance either too far backwards or forwards… Therefore, study how to fix our happiness in our glass and in our plate.”

  1. Hi,
I found your blog through Gillian Young's. Your blog is so nice and you seem like a neat person!
